Because we fear death and extinction, we naturally create myths about Resurrection and eternal life. But I do not believe in the myth of the Resurrection, nor do I believe that my soul has strolled this earth before, nor do I believe that I will once again walk this earth after I die. Nor do I believe that I will see God in heaven, with Jesus at his side.
But I do believe that Gaia will continue to create and she may even give birth to a form of life that will continue our quest to understand the cosmos, the quest to understand God.
If that theogony ever comes to pass, I doubt we will be alive on that day.
But maybe, just maybe, a wave of memory, a pulse of life in the being to come will remember our species, and cause our progeny to laugh.
Or to weep.
