One of the greatest tragedies of history is the destruction of the Library of Alexandria. Though the exact cause of the destruction is in doubt, the loss of the library is a source of sorrow for lovers of history and learning.
I hope that history doesn’t forget that the cause of a more recent, but similar tragedy, the destruction of the Baghdad Museum falls squarely on the shoulders of our democratically elected tyrant, George Bush.
But he probably doesn’t care. After all, stuff happens.
And make no mistake: these are the final days of our republic. For Nemesis is knocking at our door.
