For Love of Nietzsche

It should be clear by now that I’m under the influence of Nietzsche. I read Thus Spoke Zarathustra, slowly in German, alongside an English translation.

I see analogies between Zarathustra’s teachings and my own. Like Zarathustra, I feel that we must make Gaia a focus of our concerns. Yet we must also celebrate our special relationship with her, because in our mind she sees herself.

I imagine that the Overman is a special sort of human being, not an abstraction, nor an illusion, but a state of conscious awareness that is possible with determination, practice, and passion.

Behold, I teach you the overman!

The overman is the meaning of the earth. Let your will say: the overman shall be the meaning of the earth!

I beseech you, my brothers, remain faithful to the earth, and do not believe those who speak to you of other worldly hopes! Poison-mixers are they, whether they know it or not.

Despisers of life are they, decaying and poisoned themselves, of whom the earth is weary: so let them go. (Walter Kaufman, translator)

Mentat! Love the Earth, your home and birthplace!

And tend to your future! And to your progeny!
