On Animal Nature

Der Mensch ist ein Seil, geknüpft zwischen Thier und Übermensch, ein Seil über einem Abgrunde.

Man is a rope, lying over an abyss, tied between animal and overman.

Here, Zarathustra and I part ways. A mentat is an animal, and a mentat’s greatest strength lies in its animal instincts and intuitions.

Through intuition and instinct, a mentat can pierce deception and see into the hearts and minds of others. Through intuition and instinct, the mentat communicates without words.

As animals do.
