Tablets of Stone

A: May I make an observation?

B: Have I ever been able to stop you?

A: We seem to be obsessed with the Periodic Table of Elements.

B: It is one of the greatest inventions slash discoveries in history.

A: Yes, it is. Invented by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869.

B: Ten years after Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species in 1859.

A: Curious. No one thinks the Periodic Table of Elements is a theory.

B: But there are still plenty of ignorant people in the world who believe evolution is a theory.

A: Why is that?

B: One moment, please. You are being generous.

A: How so?

B: You said “No one thinks the Periodic Table of Elements is a theory.”

A: Correct, I did.

B: But your question assumes people know what the Periodic Table of Elements is.

A: Point taken. Maybe more people would know what the Periodic Table is if it were given to Moses.

B: And maybe more people would know the difference between theory and fact . . .

A: If they just started using one of the greatest gifts of God . .

B: The universe between our ears .
